Sadly the politicisation of human sexuality and gender in the UK has shut down debate about appropriate therapeutic responses to sexual identity conflicts to the point where only one approach is now permissible. That population sub-group which seeks to resolve identity conflicts by leaving unwanted homosexual feelings has effectively been abandoned by the professions who fear for their professional accreditation status.

With the increasing acceptance of homosexuality in our culture, many Christians are caught in the crossfire of sounding too harsh (“homosexuality is worse than other sins!”) or too compromising(“as long as two people are faithful to one another, nothing elsematters). Churches are also at a crossroads. How can they effectively reach out to gay men and women without compromising what the Bible says about same-sex intimacy? The event addressed this question.
