London Bus Campaign: Boris' new "Totalitolerance"
Sadly, Boris Johnson's pulling of our London Bus Advert highlights the 'scientism' that has closed this debate prematurely. See Sky News Report here
Scientism, the dogmatic use of science, has seemingly foreclosed on the study of the genetic and environmental interface in human sexuality and its expression, and specifically in relation to homosexuality. Such scientistic approaches to research, assuming inquiry is no longer necessary, have almost completely ignored the numerous environmental pathways to a homosexual identity, behaviours and feelings.
Even the gay community itself is divided on the issue of “born gay”. So for example, according to Peter Tatchell, "Born Gay or Made Gay", biology is not destiny, and in his “Gene Genie” “Genetic explanations of homosexuality don’t add up and are doomed to failure”. Similarly, Matthew Paris (The Times Augusr 5, 2006) asked "Are you gay or straight? Admit it, you are most likely an in-between. Sexuality is a supple thing, and sometimes can be influenced, even promoted".
